This quarter’s Volunteer Spotlight features Rebekah Aldrich! Originally from southwest Virginia, Rebekah is the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a dual major in Mathematics and Physics before marrying her husband in 2000 and then moving to Austin, Texas that same year. In 2013, she and her husband relocated to Georgetown, where they currently reside.
Rebekah reached out to Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County in June 2023 and began her volunteering journey with us shortly after. When asked what drew her to our organization, she replied “During my college years in Virginia, I had volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and I strongly believe in Habitat’s mission of helping others obtain and maintain homeownership.”
While volunteering with us, Rebekah also began working on her certification in Data Analytics from the University of Texas and has been applying her newly acquired skills to many of her Habitat projects!
As such, she has proven invaluable in the day-to-day operations of our administrative office. Whether it’s revamping the tracking and filing system of our Homeowner Services program, creating highly effective spreadsheets in support of our Home Repair program and Resource Development department, or simply answering phone calls and emails at our front desk, Rebekah has most certainly become a much-cherished volunteer.
“I’m proud that I’ve been able to help improve reports and processes for the Homeownership and Home Repair programs, as it will help expedite things and save time for staff. It appealed to my particular skillset, and I just saw an opportunity to help in a way that was unique to me.”
Since volunteering with our organization, Rebekah stated she has been impressed with the support and dedication of our volunteers. “I’ve come to realize that Habitat has a huge volunteer support system that makes such a big difference. Being part of that legacy inspires me to continue working with this organization.”
When asked what motivates her to volunteer, she stated that her mother has been a constant inspiration, as she has always been a person who makes time to help others. Rebekahs also stated that her husband has been very supportive of her involvement as a volunteer and has even applied to donate his time to Habitat as well!
“Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County has a great set of dedicated volunteers at its core, but we can always use more to increase our impact in the community. Time, money, donations are all ways that help us give back to those in need and help them feel secure.”
In her free time, Rebekah enjoys PC, console, and tabletop gaming, as well as reading and spending time with her husband and 19-year-old cat, Socks. She is also a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo and archery enthusiast.
