Long-Awaited Future Habitat Homes Coming Soon To Georgetown!

habitat homeOn March 6th, the City of Georgetown finally approved Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County’s (HFHWC) building permit for the first two homes of its development project, Shepherd’s Village.

“Best day in a long time,” a Habitat key volunteer comments, “we are in the home building business again.”

In 2020, HFHWC utilized individual donations and grant funding to purchase a 1-acre lot between 21st and 22nd Streets in southeast Georgetown. Schematics for the 12-condo home development (named in honor of the Shepherd family, who contributed the largest portion of the purchase price of the land) were created and plans were submitted to the City of Georgetown shortly after. However, numerous setbacks resulted in delays with this project, causing HFHWC to halt its development.

However, plans were finally approved this month, allowing HFHWC to officially move forward with its first condo community and continue its mission of creating and sustaining affordable homeownership in Williamson County.  habitat home

HFHWC will be commemorating the occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 12th at 10am and invite our community of supporters to stop by the future build site of Shepherd’s Village to attend the event and celebrate with us.
