Welcome to A Future Habitat Homeowner- Danielle Ramirez

Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County welcomes Danielle Ramirez as one of our selected future Habitat Homeowners!

The oldest of two children, Danielle is an Austin native, Army veteran, and mother to a 2-year-old daughter, Nadia, and a 4-year-old son, Willie. After being stationed in several locations (including Colorado, California, and Afghanistan) she separated from the military in 2015 and continued in the Army Reserves until 2018. Afterward completing her time in service, Danielle obtained her bachelor’s degree in criminology and then her master’s degree in public administration.

“I think it’s important to show my children that they can achieve anything, and it makes me proud that they can tell others that their mom got her master’s degree.”

Joining the Habitat Family

Last year, Danielle came across a friend who referred her to Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County’s homeownership program. After going through the application process, she was chosen as a future Habitat homeowner for a townhouse in our Georgetown development, Shepherd’s Village.

When asked what her hopes were for her family and Habitat home, Danielle replied, “Living in a Habitat home will allow me to provide a safe, stable, and overall healthier environment for myself and my children… [as well as] allow them to make meaningful connections to the community.”

To date, Danielle has been working on obtaining her sweat equity hours through various volunteer opportunities and completing her Habitat homeowner education courses. In reflecting upon her volunteer experiences so far, she says, “Seeing other volunteers who have been with Habitat for so long just amazes me and it really affirms that these people truly believe in Habitat and its mission.”

Danielle looks forward to moving into their home in the near future and being a part of the Habitat family, both as a homeowner and a volunteer.

“Habitat and its people are extremely dedicated to their mission of affordable homeownership and changing people’s lives and I would like to volunteer with them even after moving into my Habitat home.”

In her free time, Danielle enjoys reading, exercising, hiking, and visiting state parks with her children, who have stated they would like to get a puppy when they move into their new home.
